Mark Higgins made a welcome competitive return to his local roads he last competed on in 2009 as he took part in the 2016 Rally Isle of Man in the DMACK Ford Fiesta R5, alongside 2016 MSA British Rally Champion Elfyn Evans.
Recently Higgins has been rallying in China and last competed in January this year driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STi; Heading in to this event he had only a brief shakedown of the Fiesta R5 before competing.
“It was a great event and I was really pleased to see that I could be back on a rally-winning pace after such a long lay-off and on my first time with the Fiesta R5 on Tarmac.” said Higgins.
Higgins would take 5 stage victories and lead the rally at one point before Elfyn Evans pushed harder to take the win away from the Manxman.
“It was a fantastic result for DMACK and the Autotek team and I want to thank them for giving me the opportunity. Racing in dry conditions for three days here is a real pleasure and it was great that we could be part of the battle for the win.” he added.
