After winning a competition to be Motorpoint Yamaha's grid girl for the day, Rachael Patterson admitted to having the time of her life at Thruxton.

In spite of the gloomy weather, Rachael enjoyed every second of her once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the team. Rachael and fellow competition winner Melissa Bond caught the eye and the Eurosport cameras gaze with their striking bright blue Motorpoint wigs and beaming smiles as the race was broadcast across the world.

Her day started off with meeting the team and fans on the pit walk spending most of her day with Loris Baz, the 18-year-old French wonderkid. As the races approached, Rachael stepped onto the track with Baz to be centre stage and create even more unforgettable memories. The rest of the day went in a blur as racing began with Rachael in the thick of the action. Her day was packed with posing for photos with fans, and enjoying the hospitality facilities courtesy of the Motorpoint Yamaha team.

Rachael later revealed that she has already asked the team for the opportunity to be a grid girl again later in the season and would recommend the experience to fellow supporters.

“I got home and realised that I was smiling so much that my face was hurting a bit. You think that you have to be a mechanic or someone who knows a lot about bikes to get that close to the pits but I was able to be there in the thick of the action. I loved every second of it and the bright blue wigs made it even better. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly to Melissa and I that we instantly felt part of the team – anyone who enjoys motorsport should apply to be a grid girl with Motorpoint it was so much fun!”

The team is still taking applications for the competition for the rest of the season, and fans can enter via Motorpoint's Facebook page.
