Oulton Double For Hillspeed’s Morris

1 Mins read

Seb Morris took another pair of race victories in Rounds Seven and Eight of the 2011 Ginetta Junior Championship, the Hillspeed driver continuing to increase his championship lead as he looks to defend the title for the Derbyshire based team.

The 15 year old dominated qualifying to take a pair of pole positions by 0.7 and 0.8 seconds. A sunny race one saw Morris lead from lights to flag, setting a new lap record of 1m 42.555s on his way to a 8.8 second victory. He continued this utter dominance in race two, coping with tricky wet conditions to lead every lap one again, this time pulling clear to win by an unbelievable 23 seconds, his seventh victory of the season so far.

For team-mate Struan Moore, the weekend saw him only able to compete in Saturday's Round Seven, as he travelled back home to Jersey on Sunday due to essential school exams. The racing rookie qualified just 0.053s off the top ten on his maiden appearance to the Cheshire circuit, before a strong race run saw the 16 year old finish sixteenth.

Team Principal Richard Ollerenshaw said: “It's been another exceptional weekend for Seb. We're confident he could have challenged for the fastest lap in the second race as well as in the first but he was under instruction from us to keep the championship in mind and not push unnecessarily.

“Struan has been fantastic this weekend, he really has impressed us with his level of performance – especially being his first time at such a demanding and difficult track. He'd never even seen Oulton before Friday morning so to make the superb progress he did was very encouraging indeed. He has a lot of potential and a lot of ability.”
