Sims Loses GP3 Standings Lead After Race 1 Exclusion

1 Mins read

Alexander Sims has lost his lead of the GP3 Series standings after being excluded from the first race at the Hungaroring due to a technical infringement.

The Status Grand Prix driver had finished the race in fourth place after storming from 11th on the grid during the first lap. The original result saw him retain his championship lead over race winner Valtteri Bottas.

However, Sims' car was found to be illegal in the post-race scruitineering, meaning he has been excluded from the results. Bottas is now two points ahead of Sims at the top of the standings, with the Briton having to start Race 2 from the back of the grid.

Revised drivers' standings:

1. Valtteri Bottas 36
2. Alexander Sims 34
3. Lewis Williamson 31
4. Mitch Evans 28
5. Adrian Quaife-Hobbs 28
