Knapp Returns To Clio Cup With Team Cooksport

1 Mins read

Paul Knapp will enter the opening rounds of the 2015 Renault UK Clio Cup at Brands Hatch next weekend with Team Cooksport, with an eye on extending the deal for the remainder of the season.

Knapp made his Clio Cup debut last season with JamSport, joining the grid for three meetings at Snetterton, Knockhill and the Brands Hatch finale.

Settling into the top twelve from the off, Knapp secured a best result of eighth place in the final race of the season around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The 42 year old will now return to the Kent venue for the opening two races around the 1.2 mile Indy circuit and will be targeting front-running results alongside class wins in the Masters Cup.

We’ve known Paul for some time now and we’re delighted to have finalised a deal with him ahead of the first round at Brands Hatch. Paul is a talented driver, not phased by the highly competitive characteristics of the Clio Cup,” said team manager Steph Cook.

“We’re confident that we can work with him and give him a car capable of running towards the front of the grid. There’s no doubt he’ll make an impact at Brands Hatch and he could be a serious contender for the 2015 Master’s Cup.”

Knapp joins young chargers Rory Collingbourne and Charlie Ladell to complete a three-car entry for Cooksport’s Clio Cup debut.

“Paul brings a welcome a dose of experience and enthusiasm to the team alongside the great talents we have in Rory and Charlie. We’re delighted with our driver line-up for Brands Hatch and hope to pick up some strong results to start the season,” Cook added.
