Wild Horse Pass to host GRC curtain raiser

1 Mins read

Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park will host the opening two rounds of the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross season.

Opened in 1983, Wild Horse Pass is one of the most diverse motorsport venues in the world. The park features facilities for road course racing, drifting, and a lake for boat racing. The facility has also hosted NHRA drag racing and Lucas Oil Off Road racing and will now add rallyross to it’s extensive portfolio.

The double header event, the first time the championship has ever started with back-to-back races, will be the first of four double header events in 2016. It will also mark Red Bull GRC’s first ever visit to Arizona, a market that series CEO Colin Dyne says is an important one to conquer.

“The southwest is a crucial market for Red Bull GRC, with many of our most passionate fans located in the region,” said Dyne. “The opportunity to bring our unique brand of racing to the Phoenix market for the first time was something we couldn’t pass up. Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park is the perfect setting for us as we look to open our finest season yet.”

GRC Phoenix will take place on May 21 and 22.
