Volkswagen take semi final wins in Atlantic City

Volkswagen Andretti duo Scott Speed and Tanner Foust took the semi final wins for Red Bull Global Rallycross Atlantic City as Chip Ganassi Racing also faired well.

Semi Final A saw Speed head home Steve Arpin and Chris Atkinson who made a Red Bull GRC final a the first attempt.

In  Semi Final B, Foust initially dropped behind Patrik Sandell, Brian Deegan, and Sverre Isachsen but the race was stopped almost instantly as Nelson Piquet Jr. failed to get off the line.

Once the race was restarted, a hotly contested sprint saw Foust lead Deegan and Sandell.

The Last Chance Qualifier for the first time saw six cars advance to the expanded 12-car final. Sebastian Eriksson won, with Isachsen and Bucky Lasek also advancing as Subaru’s improved form continued. Joni Wiman was the final driver to make it to the final as Austin Dyne, Kevin Eriksson and Piquet fell by the wayside.

The GRC Lites second round races were won by Alex Keyes and Christian Brooks.
