Subaru Rally Team USA have revealed the first of their liveries for the 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross season at this weekend’s Chicago Autoshow.

The Vermont Sports Car-run team unveiled Chris Atkinson‘s WRX STI GRC on the same day that reigning champions Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross also unveiled their paint schemes for the new season.

The livery on Atkinson’s car for this season is almost the same as the one sported by multiple US rally champion David Higgins‘ WRX STI in the American Rally Association competition, albeit with a darker shade of blue.

Patrik Sandell‘s car is yet to be revealed. The Swede moves to Subaru this season after spending his entire Red Bull GRC career driving Ford machinery – firstly for Olsbergs MSE, and then for Bryan Herta Rallysport in recent seasons.

Atkinson meanwhile made his series début last year at the championship’s maiden visit to Atlantic City where he finished the event in 11th. The Australian suffered a puncture in the final after what had been an impressive maiden outing. He later took pole position in the season finale.

The WRX STI that Subaru will race this season will be their fifth different car in four years. They spent much of the 2016 season on the sidelines in order to prepare for a full title assault in 2017.
