Couto secures Macau drive

1 Mins read

Local driver André Couto will race for SUNRED Engineering at the final round of the World Touring Car Championship at Macau.

He lines up alongside team regulars Tom Coronel and Tom Boardman, and the team will be expecting him to assist Coronel in his pursuit of the Independent’s title this weekend.

Couto has plenty of experience of this track, and not just behind the wheel of touring cars either. He won the 2000 edition of the F3 Macau Grand Prix, and has competed here in touring cars for N.Technology in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008, plus an outing with SEAT Sport in 2006.

He came 7th overall in Race 2 in 2006, driving a SEAT Leon TFSI, the same car he will be racing this time round. He recently completed a test at Okayama with SUNRED too, so expect to see him at the sharp end of the Independent’s class field come race day.
