MP Motorsport announce drivers for Formula Renault 2.0 season

1 Mins read

Leading Formula Renault Eurocup outfit MP Motorsport have announced two of their drivers for the 2010 season, and are in discussions with a number of drivers over the third seat.

17 year old Daniel De Jong, from Holland and promising 16 year old Estonian driver Karl Oscar Liiv have confirmed they are to continue their relationship with the team from 2009, and to progress against the best Formula Renault drivers in Europe.

De Jong, who is based in Westmass, Holland, is looking to build on his 2009 Northern European Championship podium results from Spa-Francorchamps and the Nurburgring, by becoming a regular threat to Europe's best Formula Renault drivers.

Karl, who is from Tallinn, Estonia, joined the team part way through the 2009 Northern European Cup, and make his Eurocup debut with the team in the same season. Liiv is looking to carry on his 2009 performances into 2010, with constant improvements.

MP Motorsport Team Managers Dick Van Der Wilt and Sander Dorsman said about the youngsters re-signing with their team “We are, of course, very happy indeed to have signed deals with both Daniël and Karl-Oscar. Not only is it fantastic for MP Motorsport to have filled two of our three available seats well ahead of the start of the season, it's great to have the consistency of working again with two promising drivers we already know.”

The team has already taken delivery of two of the brands new Formula Renault 2.0 cars, and have shaken them down in Spain, at the Motorland Aragon track. Wilt and Dorsman went on to add “We were one of the first teams to take delivery of the brand new 2010 Formula Renault 2.0 car and have since received our second car as well. Further to that, we've already conducted a successful shakedown at Motorland Aragon so we're in very good shape. The year has started well for us.”

As well as the confirmed full campaign in the Eurocup, the team will also enter two selected NEC events, as new rules state that a team can't enter more than two events if they are entered into the Eurocup category.

The first collective test for the teams is at Valencia on the 22nd and 23rd February, at Valencia, before the season starts at Motorpark Aragon, on the 17th and 18th April.
