Coronel secures Seat drive fueling rumours of Tarquini partnership

1 Mins read

Tom Coronel has been confirmed as a driver for 2010 in the independent run SUNRED SEAT team driving the Seat Leon TDI.

Despite the independent status of the team they have been promised full backing from the WTCC base, which is situated very close to the SUNRED team HQ.

Coronel commented: “With this package I have a better chance than ever to score. I can’t wait for the season to start. I always said that I wanted to have a diesel car. At last I managed to get one. With this car we can fight for podium places on a regular basis.

It was also announced that Gabriele Tarquini would be partnering the Dutch driver with Coronel commenting: “It is fantastic to be in one team with Tarquini. The World Champion and the winner of the privateer championship together in one team, it can’t be better, can it?”

The news of Tarquini joining the team has since been withdrawn as no official statement was released by the team, in a week that has seen a few premature announcements in BTCC and WTCC we await the news of any solid contracts regarding the Italian!
