#10 – Augusto Farfus Jnr #11 Andy Priaulx
A reduced entry from BMW for the 2010 FIA World Touring Car Championship, with the 2 cars being run by BMW Team UK for Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus Jnr. Between the two they’ve taken 27 race victories, with Farfus on top of the win count with 15.
RBM have the experience of winning titles, as they took Priaulx to consecutive titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Farfus is undoubtedly one of the fastest drivers in the WTCC and has the ability to win the title, but his gung ho attitude has got him into problems before, 4 times during the 2009 season Farfus had to rely on his team mates dropping back and give up a good result to help him get back into a point scoring situation.
For Priaulx, 2009 saw him finish fourth in the championship with 2 race wins including a storming drive at Oschersleben, when he started from fifteenth place to take a dominant victory, before backing up Farfus in race 2. He did the same again at Okayama, this time after qualifying second on the grid, taking the race 1 victory before backing Farfus up.
Priaulx proved himself as one of the quickest drivers over the season, with 4 fastest laps.
BMW have two fast, race winning drivers, the fastest cars in the dry or the wet – but have they got the line up to win the title? Yes, as long as Farfus keeps his cool.
Season Prediction: A 2 car team will make winning the manufacturers title hard, as points will be lost if one or both drivers fail to finish or score. If Farfus stays cool, and has his consistency, then the title will head to Brazil, either that or it'll head back to Guernsey. If not, they'll be the bridesmaid again, this time to Chevrolet.
TCF Driver Predictions:
- Farfus – Top 3
- Priaulx – Top 3
