WTCC 2010 Team-by-team: Chevrolet – Chevrolet Cruze LT

1 Mins read

#6 – Yvan Muller   #7 – Rob Huff   #8 – Alain Menu

The RML run Chevrolet team head into their second season with the potent Cruze model, looking to build on a solid 2009 season. The car was on the pace from the start and took four wins on the bounce at Marrakesh in Morocco and Pau. Five of the teams six wins came at street tracks, proving the cars performance on tight, twisty tracks.

Huff took 3 wins en route to fifth overall, four points shy of beating fellow Brit Andy Priaulx, and backed up his wins with another 6 podium finishes. Nine podiums from twenty-two races isn’t a bad return from a season which the team debuted a brand new car.

For Menu it was almost a season to forget despite taking 2 race victories and 1 other podium he finished a lowly ninth overall, with just over half the points that Huff finished the season with.

The 2010 season sees the 2008 WTCC Champion Yvan Muller join the team. With 4 wins during the 2009 season, Muller finished second behind Tarquini, and confirmed his Chevrolet move during the Macau race weekend. The change in team confirms Chevrolets intentions, and with the strongest looking line up in WTCC 2010, Chevrolet may break their duck and finally claim a title.

Season Prediction: Manufacturer Champions, running a 3 car team will be invaluable for this, drivers title is a definite possibility, with an improvement in luck. Huff will be the favourite to take the crown for Chevrolet. The signing of Yvan Muller could prove to be a masterstroke for Chevrolet.

TCF Driver Predictions:

  • Muller – Top 5
  • Huff – Champion
  • Menu – Top 10
