Thomas Biagi will next take to the track in the Superstars series at his home circuit of Imola this weekend, the 17/18 April.
The BMW Team Italy driver secured a pair of fourth place finishes during the opening rounds of the series at Monza, a weekend dominated by the more powerful Mercedes drivers.
Biagi was out testing last week, and he carried on the development of his BMW Team Italy BMW M3 E92. The Emilian driver got positive confirmation on reliability and race pace.
Speaking ahead of the Imola race weekend, Biagi said: “Imola has a particular importance for me: there, as a kid, I saw for the first time a Formula One car and since then I tried not to miss a single Grand Prix. My last race on the Santerno’s banks dates back to 2005 in FIA GT: it ended on the podium and I hope that can be a good omen for this weekend too.
At the moment I am the first BMW driver in classification thanks to the results obtained at Monza. The present balance of performance, obtained by analyzing car performances on last year’s tyres, conceded three weeks ago some advantage on straights for heavier but also more powerful cars.”
He added: “On paper, Imola is a track that suits our car therefore we expect to be able to express better our potential. My Fan Club will be present as usual on grand stands: they are preparing a surprise but what it is about is still a mystery; what is certain is that it will be good fun therefore I invite all my fellow citizens to come at the circuit and enjoy our show”.
