Superstars Series set for Imola

1 Mins read

The 2010 Superstars V8 series is all set for the next race weekend at Imola, with some new additions to the grid ahead of the third and fourth races of the season.

Joining the Superstars grid for Imola is the Maserati Quattroporte of Andrea Chiesa, while a new Jaguar XF V8 will appear in the hands of Ferlito Motors. A brand new BMW M3 E92 will appear on the grid, run by Vaccari Motori and raced by Federico Bellini. RGA Sportmanship will add another car to the grid, as Giovanni Faraonio joins forces with former F1 driver Mimmo Schiattarella.

The confirmation of these cars enhances the reputation of the series for close, competitive racing – something which saw put on show during the opening rounds at Monza, with five different car manufacturers filled out the top six finishing positions – a double win went the way of the Mercedes AMG C63 racer Luigi Ferrara.

Alongside the Superstars series is the brand new for 2010 Superstars GTSprint series, which shares the same promoter as the Superstars category. The maiden race weekend saw twenty three cars take to the grid for the first race weekend of the series, which features two races of twenty five minutes plus a lap.

The Superstars GTSprint grid will also gain more cars at Imola, with the brand new 2010 Ferrari F430 making its series debut with AF Corse, whose driver line up will be Cedric Sbirrazzuoli and Monza race one winner Niki Cadei.

Joining Sbirrazzuoli and Cadei in a F430 will be Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini, while Dario Paletto and Giorgio Piodi will make their debut in a GDL Racing Porsche 997 GT3.

As at Monza, fans will be able to reserve their free grandstand tickets online at the official Superstars series website, as well as via banners on specialised websites. The scheme, which was introduced for the first time at Monza, saw eight thousand grandstand tickets reserved, as well as an attendance of twenty thousand track side.
