Corthals Set For WTCC One Off At Zolder

1 Mins read

Belgian driver Pierre-Yves Corthals is set for a return to WTCC for the first time since 2008 driving a petrol powered Seat León.

Corthals was a regular to the series throughout the 2007 and 2008 season and will make the one off return at his home race at Zolder, Belgium, which is due to take place on 20 June.

The SEAT León will be run and prepared by Luc Marchetti’s Exagon Racing and backed by SEAT Belgique with Corthals looking to improve on his best result of eighth place.

Talking on the fiawtcc.com website he said, “I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to make a comeback with Exagon and in the WTCC. Many of the best memories of my racing career are infact linked to this team and this championship. The WTCC is the series that suits the best my idea of motor sport: top-level races in which drivers must fight hard for every fraction of a second. I will give all my best during the Zolder event, because I wish with all my heart to match the expectations of the people who support me in this programme”
