60 Seconds With… Jody Fannin

Following our first 60 Seconds With… Dino Zamparelli, next up in the series is Jody Fannin.

What are you racing at the moment?

I am currently racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship – my first season in car racing which I’m really enjoying.

How old are you?

I am 16 years old.

How long have you been racing?

I raced karts for four years from 2006 to 2009, but this is my first season in cars.

What was your first race?

In a kart at the Lydd circuit in Kent. It was January, very wet and just above freezing. I had a sticking throttle and a misfire as the airbox was full of water but I won the novice trophy which was massive!

What is your best racing memory?

My first win in cars at the fantastic Brands Hatch GP circuit in May after a race-long battle. I led from the start and was stretching a small gap to Tom Ingram when the safety car came out – my first experience of a safety car and I was in the lead! When the safety car pulled in, I managed to hold off the two Toms (Ingram and Howard) in a very close battle, finally winning by less than 0.1 of a second.

How has your 2010 season been so far?

I am extremely pleased with how the season has gone so far, I am currently fourth in the Ginetta Junior Championship, with 2 wins and four podiums – I’m hoping to add to this tally before the season is over.

What are your plans for 2011?

It’s budget dependent, but I’m hoping to get some backing which will allow me to step up to the Ginetta G50 championship or perhaps single seaters.
