Harry Tincknell took a dominant victory in the race two of the Formula Renault UK at Snetterton to lead another good weekend for CRS Racing. After finishing fifth in race one, the win moves Tincknell up to joint third in the championship standings. Team mate Michael Lyons added to the team's joy with his best weekend to date, recording two top ten finishes and the fastest lap of race one. Rob Foster-Jones had a tougher weekend though, settling for just one top ten finish in race one.
Starting from pole for race two, Tincknell led from lights to flag for a confident win. He reflected on the win saying: “I had to make sure I had a good start. Once I'd done that I kept my head down so I could build up a good gap to P2. Sometimes the races where you are in the lead all on your own are the hardest as you have to fight to keep your concentration all the way through. I'm really pleased with today. I got the lap record, the sun came out to give us a bit more grip and I got the win so I'm ecstatic.”
Lyons produced a seasons best performance in qualifying to start race one from eighth, which is where he stayed throughout the race. Despite recording the fastest lap of the race, he was unable to work his way up the order. He made up for this in race two, with a confident performance seeing him work him way up from 15th to 10th, with some slick overtaking and mature driving.
Foster-Jones produced a good performance in race one, fighting his way up from 15th to 10th. Race two began from ninth on the grid, but contact with David McDonald on the first lap left him at the back of the pack. With little chance to move up the field from 15th, he tried to go for fastest lap, but lost out to Tincknell by just half a tenth of a second.
The CRS Formula Renault team are next out in two weeks time for a triple header at Silverstone. As well as the usual two races at the meeting, the race that was postponed earlier in the season at Brands Hatch will be run in addition, making it a busy weekend for the team.
