Payne and Thorley dominate the Trackrod

Charlie Payne and co-driver Craig Thorley claimed victory on the Trackrod National Rally in the most dominant form, by winning all stages of what is the final round of the 2010 MSA National Gravel Rally Championship.

The rally’s new base in Scarborough welcomed Payne and Thorley after a show of the utmost skill throughout an event made considerably more difficult by the heavy overnight downpour, and some drivers stating that they felt grip levels were almost non-existent in places.

Stephen Petch and John Richardson completed the rally in second place, with Jamie Anderson and Ella Flynn completing the top three.

Speaking after his dominant win, Payne said “Today was one great result for us, we had a good clean run with no real dramas. The weather made it very interesting and we survived a huge moment on the last stage so we were really lucky to make the finish!”.
