Andy Priaulx took his sixth win of the season in Race Two at Oschersleben, with Augusto Farfus finishing second to give BMW a 1-2 finish on home soil.
Priaulx made a fantastic start from third on the grid to lead into the first corner, ahead of SEAT trio Norbert Michelisz, Michel Nykjaer and Tiago Monteiro. Monteiro tapped Nykjaer into a slide to take third, before pushing Michelisz wide and on to the dirt at the final corner to take second. However, Monteiro was given a drive-through penalty for the contact with Nykjaer.
This promoted Farfus into second place behind teammate Priaulx, with Yvan Muller also capitalising to take third for Chevrolet. Nykjaer finished fourth ahead of Tom Coronel and fellow Dane Kristian Poulsen, who took his second Independents' Trophy victory of the day in sixth.
Behind, a fierce battle was developing for eighth in the final laps of the race, behind seventh placed Alain Menu. Michelisz had been caught by Gabriele Tarquini, Rob Huff and Jordi Gene, who had all started near the back. Huff tapped Michelisz wide at Turn 1 to pass the Hungarian. Tarquini drew alongside Michelisz, forcing him off the road. Michelisz rejoined in 11th behind Gene. Huff passed Chevrolet teammate Menu for seventh at the end of the race.
Priaulx has now moved ahead of Tarquini into second in the standings, 13 points behind leader Muller, heading to round nine of 11 at Valencia on September 19.
