Monteiro Looking Forward To Challenge Down Under

1 Mins read

Tiago Monteiro will make his debut in the Australian V8 Supercar Series this weekend, as one of 18 international drivers lining up for the Gold Coast 600 around the streets of Surfers Paradise.

The World Touring Car Championship driver will join up with V8 Supercar regular Tony D'Alberto to race for the Centaur Racing Team in a Holden Commodore. Tiago says he is looking forward to the new challenge.

“It will be a great challenge because the V8 cars are very different to the ones we are usually racing,” he explained. “The biggest difficulty will be fighting with the local drivers and I already know that the tyre wear will be crucial because with 650bhp under throttle, wear comes quickly! But my aim is to enjoy myself and of course to fight and try to get the best possible result.”

As well as single-seater stars such as Will Power and Dario Franchitti, Tiago will also be racing three of his WTCC rivals, with Andy Priaulx, Yvan Muller and Alain Menu also taking part in the two 300 kilometre races.
