Interest Continues To Soar For 2011 Formula Renault BARC

1 Mins read

The line up for the 2011 Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship is growing stronger by the day as more teams and drivers announce their plans for the forthcoming season.

Daytona Motorsport has become the second new team to commit to the single seater series with a single car entry. The team, run by Richard Brunning, have confirmed their driver as Russian karter Ivan Taranov, who finished eighth in last year's Daytona Max Sprint Lightweight series.

Team Manager Brunning said: “We see the Formula Renault BARC series as very good value and the natural step for karters such as Ivan to move into single-seater racing. Having the final rounds running alongside the British Touring Car Championship is an added incentive as it allows upcoming drivers to impress in front of the Formula Renault UK teams.”

Antel Motorsport have confirmed their drivers for the new season as returnee Archie Hamilton and newcomer Callum Bowyer. 20 year old Hamilton returns to the series in which he finished ninth in 2009, after competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, British GT and Britcar series over the course of 2010. Peterborough based Bowyer will make his Formula Renault debut after finishing third in the KF2 series last year.

SWB Motorsport have also announced two of its four drivers as 18-year-old Jack Dex and16-year-old British/South African Raoul Owens, who are both graduating from the British Super One karting series

Series organisers are optimistic that their original prediction of 20 cars lining up at series opener at Donington Park is set to be beaten with the continued interest shown from teams and drivers.
