Formula Renault BARC Heads To Kent

1 Mins read

The stars of the 2011 Formula Renault BARC Championship are set for two more action packed rounds this weekend around the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent. The single seater racers started the season off in style three weeks ago with two exciting races at Donington Park.

Leading the standings after the opening round is Mtech Lite's James Thorp, who took his maiden series win in the opening race, before backing this up with a second place in Round two. Hot on his heels, after a career best weekend, is RPD Motorsport's Steven Durrant, who took third in Round one, before a superb drive from 15th on the grid in Round two saw him finish fourth.

Fortec Motorsport's Archie Hamilton heads to Kent third in the points, just fourth points off Durrant, with team-mate Keiran Vernon four points behind him, after both taking podiums at Donington. Antel Motorsport's Dino Zamparelli is next up after a solid opening weekend for the series returnee.

Fortec's Josh Webster took the opening win of the year, however retirement for the 2010 BARC Winter Series champion in race two sees him head to Brands just sixth in the points, followed by the top rookies in the championship, Scorpio Motorsport's Hector Hurst and MGR Motorsport's Matt Mason.

Both Durrant from Basildon and Sussex-based Vernon class Brands Hatch as their local circuit, as does Raoul Owens from London, Kingston-upon-Thames' Howard Fuller and Russian Ivan Taranov, who is based in Essex.
