Zamparelli Secures Formula Renault Pole At Brands

1 Mins read

Dino Zamparelli has taken pole position for Round Four of the 2011 Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship at Brands Hatch. The Antel Motorsport driver set the quickest time in another tight qualifying session, which saw the top eighteen runners split by less than a second around the tight Indy circuit.

With conditions overcast and the temperature dropping, the lap times were much slower than in the days earlier session, with Zamparelli setting a best time of 45.355s, compared to Kieran Vernon's pole time in the first session of 45.191s. Second fastest was championship leader James Thorp, the Mtech Lite driver finishing 0.150s off pole position.

A last gasp lap of 45.522s put Kourosh Khani third on the grid, his best qualifying performance of the season for Scorpio Motorsport. Joining him on row two is Vernon, leading a Fortec Motorsport trio, with team mates Archie Hamilton and Josh Webster lining up on row three.

Howard Fuller once again led the way for Hillspeed, who won the title in 2010 with Alice Powell, with a time of 45.582 putting him seventh, ahead of Steven Durrant for RPD Motorsport. MGR Motorsport's Matt Mason took ninth, with Scorpio's Hector Hurst completing the top ten, only 0.393s off pole.

MGR's Russell Danzey and Hillspeed's Zaamin Jaffer line up on row six, ahead of MGR's David Wagner and the fastest of the SWB Motorsport runners, Macaulay Walsh, in fourteenth.
