Dino Zamparelli dominated qualifying for Rounds Five and Six of the 2011 Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship at Oulton Park. The Antel Motorsport driver held off his championship rivals to take pole for both races, despite pulling off towards the end of the session with mechanical problems.
Zamparelli's best time of 1min 22.041s around the Island layout was 0.136s quicker than his closest rival Josh Webster. Third on the grid for the day's first race will be championship leader James Thorp, with a strong run from Kourosh Khani putting him fourth. Fortec Motorsport's Archie Hamilton was just 0.014s off the second row in fifth, ahead of James Theodore, making his first appearance of the season at Oulton.
Kieran Vernon, race winner at Brands Hatch last time out, and MGR Motorsport's David Wagner line up on row four, ahead of Antel's Callum Bowyer and Scorpio's Hector Hurst. Row six sees Victor Jiminez joined by RPD Motorsport's Steven Durrant, followed by MGR's Matt Mason and Hillspeed pairing Howard Fuller and Zaamin Jaffer.
The driver's second best times formed the grid for Round Six, with a 1min 22.072s for Zamparelli giving him pole again, once again joined on the front row by Fortec's Webster. Hamilton will line up third, edging Khani into fourth by just 0.004s, with Mtech Lite pairing Thorp and Theodore on row three. Vernon, Bowyer, Hurst and Wagner complete the top ten, with Mason and Jiminez on row six.
