Biagi Tests WTCC Car With View To A Race Drive

1 Mins read

Reigning Superstars Series champion Thomas Biagi has tested ROAL Motorsport‘s World Touring Car Championship car, as the team looks to field him in a second car alongside regular driver Tom Coronel in the final rounds of the 2011 season.

Biagi, who races for the ROAL-run Team BMW Italia outfit in Superstars, tested the BMW 320 TC at the Adria circuit in Italy.

“The BMW 320 TC is an amazing car,” said Biagi. “Although it has less power than the BMW M3 I drive in the Superstars Series, the development of chassis and suspensions joint to the lighter weight compensate the difference. This car provides all the feelings needed to drive to the limit.

“I admit that after this first test I would really love to compete in the WTCC from the final races of the current season.”

“Thomas has a remarkable talent,” said team boss Roberto Ravaglia. “He was soon able to get in tune with the car and duly completed the scheduled work. We are now working to find the necessary budget for fielding a second car alongside Tom Coronel’s in the final races of the season.

“Together with Thomas we are trying to involve some sponsors interested in overseas markets and in the huge media impact provided by the world championship.”

Biagi will be in action this weekend in the Superstars Series round at Donington Park. Meanwhile, Coronel will take back the controls to his BMW for the WTCC races at Brno.
