O’Young To Represent Asia In Carrera World Cup

1 Mins read

Darryl O'Young will represent the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in the inaugural Porsche Carrera World Cup event on the Nurburgring Nordschleife this weekend.

The two-time series champion and World Touring Car Championship driver has been selected by Porsche China to represent the championship against drivers from over 25 countries.

“My career has developed in Asia, and representing the region in this historic race represents the culmination of my Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup experience so far,” said O'Young. “That Asia is represented in this truly international line-up shows just how far – and how fast – motorsport is developing here.”

The race will be O'Young's first experience of the legendary German circuit.

“This is going to be the biggest challenge of my career,” he said. “I have wanted to race on this circuit my whole life and this is a fantastic opportunity for me. The Nordschleife has a reputation for a reason. It demands massive respect, and the smallest error receives the harshest punishment.”

O'Young's car will carry a livery specifically designed to bring a piece of China to the Nurburgring, featuring a Chinese dragon, 'a symbol of power, excellence and courage', along its sides.
