FIA Formula 2 championship leader Mirko Bortolotti took time out from his busy season to visit the prestigious Ennstal Classic rally in Gröbming, Austria. The 21 year old made his debut at the classic in the Chopard Grand Prix.
Bortolotti completed five laps in a historic Formula Ford at the classic event, at which he had the opportunity to meet legends like Nigel Mansell, Sir Stirling Moss, Mark Surer and Dakar-winner Timo Gottschalk. He was particularly impressed by former world champion Mansell, who asked him about his racing results and wished him the best in the Formula 2 championship.
Mirko commented: “It was a beautiful day and a great honour for me, to race with these legends in front of thousends of race fans. It was my first time at the Ennstal Classic and I can only congratulate the promoters. Even if we didn’t participate in a real race, I have to admitt that you will rarely experience such a kind of racing atmosphere. On top of this it was real fun to meet so many motorsport fans and sign a lot of autographs.”
