Dan De Zille’s Spa Eurocup Outing Hampered By Contact

1 Mins read

Dan de Zille ended the Formula Ford Eurocup weekend at Spa-Francorchamps disappointed, leaving Belgium with just a seventh place to show from the three races.

Problems began in qualifying where the JTR driver could only muster a 15th place start among the 20 car field for the weekend. However, any race one charge de Zille may have been planning was cut short after three laps, taken out by a rival who outbraked themselves into the La Source hairpin, crashing into the rear of de Zille's Mygale.

The third and final race of the weekend followed a similar pattern, when a Dutch driver pushed him into the leading group on the first lap, De Zille, this time, collecting front end damage that put him out of the race.

The second race, on Saturday morning, was a rare high point for de Zille in the no.19 car. A better start than in race one put him firmly in the leading pack in sixth, though he fell to seventh over the course of the eight lap race.

De Zille's next outing in the Eurocup comes this weekend (July 16-17) at the other famous Belgian venue, Zolder, where he will hoping for better luck.
