Biagi Sets Pace As Superstars Hit Spa-Francorchamps

1 Mins read

Thomas Biagi topped the Friday test session as the sixth round of the International Superstars Series got underway at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The reigning champion was more than a second quicker for BMW Italia than his nearest rival, championship leader Luigi Ferrara in his CAAL Mercedes.

Third best of the Superstars runners in the half an hour session, which was shared with the International GT Sprint competitors, was Max Pigoli, nearly another second further back as drivers used the session simply to get a feeling for the track and their machines.

Biagi's teammate Alberto Cerqui was just behind Pigoli in fourth, with Johnny Herbert next up in the second of the Romeo Ferraris Mercedes. Alberto Bertolini was sixth in his Swiss Team Maserati.

In GT Sprint, Matteo Cressoni headed the timesheets for Edil Cris, with AF Corse's Giuseppe Ciro nine tenths behind. Corvette driver Roberto del Castello was third, with Max Mugelli and Marco Antonelli completing the top five.
