Jordan King took his first ever pole position in the Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship in qualifying for Round Eleven of the 2011 season at Snetterton, before championship leader Alex Lynn put himself at the front for Round Twelve.
A dramatic opening session had seen Formula Renault Eurocup driver Will Stevens, making a guest appearance in the series this weekend with Fortec Motorsport, take pole position, but after the session he was excluded from the results with his team found to be running his car to the European specification, rather than UK spec.
This moved Manor Competition's King to the front with a time of 1min 47.053s, just 0.004s ahead of Lynn, who lines up one place ahead of chief title rival Tio Ellinas. Joining Ellinas on row two after his best performance of the season so far is Mark Burdett Motorsport's Daniel Cammish, who finishes ahead of Atech Reid GP pairing Jack Hawksworth and Oscar King. Fortec pair Oliver Rowland and Felix Serralles are next up, ahead of Alice Powell and Formula Renault debutant Ed Jones in tenth.
The day's second session was more routine, as Lynn cruised to his ninth pole position of the season with a time of 1min 47.080s. 0.190s behind was Stevens, making up for his earlier disappointment, with Atech's Ellinas third once again.
Fourth after a strong run was Manor's Alice Powell, ahead of Cammish and Jordan King. Fortec's Jones took a superb seventh to cap off a strong start to his debut weekend, with Oscar King, Rowland and Manor's Josh Hill completing the top ten. Enduring a frustrating session was Hawksworth, the Croft race-winner unable to set a lap time, leaving him fourteenth.
