Alex Walker put in another solid performance during his second outing in the CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship at Brands Hatch, the Fortec Motorsport driver taking a solid top ten finish around the challenging Grand Prix circuit.
Walker, who joined the Formula Renault series after an impressive debut season in the InterSteps championship, put in a strong performance in qualifying, taking tenth and twelfth on the grid for the two races. A good run in the opening race saw the 16 year old take tenth place, though a mistake in race two saw him slide off circuit and out of the race.
Walker, who is looking for a full Renault campaign in 2012, said: “The GP configuration is a very difficult track and there are a lot of places where time can be won or lost, so this weekend should prove to be very useful when we come here next year.
“I’m disappointed not to have finished the second race – I just pushed a bit too hard and made a small mistake which cost me – but everyone at Fortec Motorsport did another great job this weekend and we’ve made further progress.
“Having the opportunity to compete at Rockingham and Brands GP has been very beneficial and it’s given me a insight with to what to expect next season. The level of competition is very high in Formula Renault but I can use what I have learnt in these four races to my advantage as we move forward towards our winter testing program.
“It’s been a steep learning curve but there are plenty of things to be working on over the winter and I’m already looking forward to being back for the first race of next season.”
