British single-seater racer Hector Hurst has signed with 2MB Sports Management ahead of the 2012 season, joining the likes of Gary Paffett, Mike Conway and Tom Blomqvist in the company's select group of drivers.
Owned by Mark Blundell, 2MB is a talent management agency that tries to develop young motorsport talent, as well as manage established stars brands. Experienced karter Hurst is the latest driver to join the ranks after a strong maiden car racing campaign in 2011.
Racing in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship with Scorpio Motorsport, Hurst endured a tough season, but emerged with two top five finishes to end the year as one of the top scoring rookies in the championship. Hurst went on to compete in the Formula Renault UK Finals Series in November and despite no testing prior to the series in the new car, Hurst finished eleventh with Manor Competition, ahead of many more experienced drivers.
Hurst said: “I'm at a really key part of my career; having made the transition from karts to single seaters this year, and so I am very happy to now have 2MB Sports Management looking after my racing future. Mark has already helped many top level racing drivers get to the top of the motorsport ladder and his vast experience and knowledge made 2MB the obvious choice for me.”
Blundell added: “Hector is at the very start of his racing career, having just completed a strong first year in the Formula Renault BARC Championship where he proved he has the talent to be racing against drivers with many more years experience. We at 2MB Sports Management are very excited to be working with Hector, and with a number of racing options for 2012 already being discussed, we are looking forward to working together this year and for many years to come.”
