After a successful maiden year in car racing in 2011, Ed Jones has signed up to compete in the 2012 Formula Renault Eurocup with Fortec Motorsport.

Jones' maiden year saw him finish fourth overall in the BMW InterSteps Championship, scoring multiple podium finishes including a victory at Snetterton. The 16 year old also gained Formula Renault experience by competing in selected rounds of the UK and Eurocup championships, as well as a recent test with the Eurocup team at Motorland.

Jones joins Mikko Pakari and Oliver Rowland in the Fortec Eurocup squad so far, with Fortec's Eurocup Team Manager Jamie Dye commenting: “I'm really delighted to confirm that Ed will be staying with Fortec and moving up to the Eurocup series in 2012; he's had a really strong year and has shown excellent potential for the future. The Eurocup Championship is a great one, which provides drivers with an opportunity to shine in front of huge crowds and to learn and race at some fantastic tracks so I think it'll be a good learning curve for Ed and we're all very excited for 2012.”
