Josh Webster has been unveiled as one of seven drivers included in MSA's Team UK for 2012, an accolade the Stowmarket-based racer is delighted with.
Team UK lines up the most talented young circuit racers and rally drivers in Britain, with the 2012 line up revealed at the Autosport International Show, where Webster was on the MSA stand throughout the weekend. 17 year old Webster receives the recognition after his excellent two year racing career to date, which saw him finish vice-champion in the 2011 Formula Renault BARC Championship.
Webster recently graduated from the MSA Academy's Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence and becomes the first driver to graduate from the Academy into the MSA's national squad. As a member of Team UK, Webster will receive driver coaching, fitness and nutritional guidance, as well as enjoy exclusive visits to the headquarters of Formula One teams and access to some of the most sophisticated simulator equipment available.
Webster, who is working on getting the budget together for an assault on Formula Renault UK in 2012, commented: “I am honoured to be included in the 2012 Team UK squad and I look forward to the first training workshops. I’ll make the most of this fantastic opportunity to learn under the expert guidance of National Race Coach David Brabham and Performance Director Robert Reid. I know it will be hard work, but I'm grateful for my place in the team and will work hard to justify my selection.”
