2011 Intersteps Champion Jake Dennis will once again team up with Fortec Motorsport this season as he makes the step up to compete in the 2012 CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship.
After a glittering karting career, the Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver moved up to car racing last season and enjoyed a sensational year, taking eight wins on his way to the Intersteps title, winning by nearly 70 points over his closest rival.
16 year old Dennis made his Formula Renault debut in the end of year Formula Renault UK Finals Series, bouncing back from some unfortunate retirements to pick up some strong races finishes, with a best result of fifth at Rockingham. His performances in the Final Series, along with some strong tests with Fortec over the winter, proved to the team that he was ready to make the step up to Formula Renault UK for the upcoming season.
Formula Renault 2.0 UK Team Manager Alex Fleming said: “Having worked with Jake throughout 2011 in the InterSteps Championship, I know he has exceptional speed and the commitment to match, his results to date speak for themselves. He was unlucky in the Finals Series but still recorded some strong results and the experience he gained will put him in a stronger position for the coming season. I’m confident that he can be fighting at the front end of the field this year.”
