Stefan Bradl counted himself happy at the end of the opening day's testing at Jerez after finishing up tenth fastest. The reigning Moto2 champion will make his debut in the premier class for LCR Honda this year and has been getting to grips with the RC213V in winter testing.
After two tests in Malaysia, the final pre-season test is taking place in Spain this weekend and after completing 64 laps, Bradl has identified the strengths and weaknesses with the new bike.
“It has been a big chance coming to Jerez from Sepang for the first European test. Thanks to the weather conditions the engine was more powerful and I was impressed about the performance of the bike. We had a couple of issues at the beginning of the day with the wheelie and the electronic and we had to adjust a lot of things but step by step we have improved and I could go faster. At the end of the session the tyres were working different compared to Sepang especially the soft one and I was expecting a little bit more grip. Tomorrow we will have to find the way to improve our braking stability but today was a ok”.
Testing continues for the next two days before the season opener in Qatar on April 8th.
