Mercedes drivers Andrea Larini and Tonio Liuzzi held the top two spots in the second practice session ahead of their International Superstars Series debuts at Monza. Romeo Ferraris driver Larini was sixth tenths clear of second-placed CAAL Racing driver Liuzzi.
Having missed the first practice session, Sweden's Johan Kristofferson had a strong session behind the wheel of his brand new Audi RS5 to finish up third, just 0.063s behind Liuzzi.
Thomas Biagi was fourth in his BMW, the last man to be within a second of pacesetter Larini. Max Pigoli was just behind in his Jaguar, pipping Maserati pilot Mika Salo to fifth by just 0.005s.
Stefano Gabellini was seventh in the second of the Dinamic BMWs, with rookie Andrea Boffo in eighth and one place ahead of his Roma Racing Team owner Nico Caldarola. Mauro Cesari took tenth place in the second Swiss Team Maserati.
German youngster Thomas Schoffler was 11th in his Audi RS5, ahead of the Jaguar of Gian Maria Gabbiani.
Having set the pace in the opening session, Francesco Sini finished the second session down in 17th, more than five seconds adrift in his Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina. Gianni Morbidelli failed to make it out on track in his Audi RS5.
