Core Motorsport will be running Ivan Taranov and Michael Epps in the upcoming Protyre Formula Renault BARC Winter Series.
The new Core team made their category debut during the final rounds of the main championship last weekend at Silverstone, running a single car for Anton Spires. The weekend didn’t go to plan though, with mechanical problems leading to a retirement and a sixteenth place finish.
Taranov brings with him two years of experience in the category, while former Vee racer Epps has just completed his maiden campaign in the series. Both drivers picked up their best results in the series at Silverstone, securing a fourth place each, meaning both are full of confidence heading into the winter series.
“Since launching the team, we’ve looked to work with driver who we feel have huge potential if provided with the correct level of training,” explained Core team principal Steve Durrant. “Both Ivan and Michael have shown a few superb drives this season, and we feel that they have the raw skill to be at the very top. It’s now our job to provide them with the cars and coaching to make that happen.
“We’re looking to win the winter series and Formula Renault history has taught us time and again that consistency is the key to winning championships – so that will be our aim. If our drivers can consistently finish in the top 3 or 4 then we have a very good chance of bringing home the championship title.”
