Brazilian racing driver Henrique Baptista will compete in the Protyre Formula Renault Championship this season, continuing in the series with front-running outfit Scorpio Motorsport.
The 21 year old returned to racing in Formula Renault BARC last year, taking two top twelve finishes in his first full season en-route to twentieth in the championship standings.
The Eastbourne-based racer had made his Formula Renault BARC debut in the 2008 Winter Cup, before taking a break from racing to complete his studies.
Baptista has been preparing for the new campaign with recent tests at Donington Park and Thruxton with Scorpio, the 2008 and 2009 title-winning team.
“I wanted to continue working with Scorpio Motorsport because they did a great job last season, though they’re personal CV alone should explain why, with two Formula Renault championships under their belt,” said Baptista.
“I’ve been working hard with the team and my driver coach and 2009 champion Kieren Clark, and I’m aiming to be in the top six from the start of the season and then take it from there. The testing program we’ve got before the start of the season should be more than enough to make my goals achievable this season”
