Reigning FIA World Touring Champion Rob Huff will defend his title this year driving a SEAT Leon for the All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport team.
Huff claimed his maiden WTCC title in 2012 for Chevrolet, but the car marque’s withdrawal had left his future in the series in doubt.
He will now team up with the German All-Inkl Munnich squad, who will make their debut in the WTCC this year after winning the FIA GT1 World Championship last season.
He joins team owner Rene Munnich and team manager Marc Basseng behind the wheel of SEAT Leons for the outfit. Markus Winkelhock was previously due to race the team’s third car.
“I’m delighted to join Rene and Marc at All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport for 2013,” said Huff. “It is an exciting newly-formed WTCC project, but the team have a huge reputation having previously won the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2012.”
The move will mark a return for Huff to the SEAT brand, having won the SEAT Cupra Championship back in 2003, propelling him into his touring car career with a factory SEAT ride in the British Touring Car Championship in the following season.
“I started my saloon car career racing in a SEAT, so it will be quite special to compete in the WTCC with the Leon and a team that carries the highest amount of professionalism,” he added. “I’m very thankful for the opportunity that I have been given and I look forward to building on this this relationship.”
