Campos Racing have signed youngsters Fernando Monje and Hugo Valente for their maiden season in the World Touring Car Championship.
Adrian Campos has joined forces with Joan Orus’ Sunred operation to run a pair of SEAT Leon WTCCs in the series.
After switching from Formula 3, Spaniard Monje won last year’s European Touring Car Cup in a Sunred SEAT before joining the WTCC for the latter part of the season. While teammate Pepe Oriola will continue under the Tuenti Racing Team banner with support from SEAT Sport, Monje will continue with Sunred in its new guise.
Frenchman Valente, also 20, made a one-off appearance in the WTCC with Sunred at Shanghai late last year. Another single-seater convert after two years in Formula Renault 2.0, Valente finished runner-up in last year’s French SEAT Leon Supercopa. His campaign with Campos will start at round four at the Hungaroring in May.
The team will also field two SEAT Leon 2.0s in the ETCC, to be driven by Ukranian Igor Skuz and Austrian Wolfgang Treml. Skuz contested two rounds with Sunred last year, taking two second places at Monza behind Monje while Treml has previously entered a Honda.
