South African Formula Ford Champion Joins GB Field

1 Mins read

Multiple single-seater champion Jayde Kruger has announced he will join the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain for the remainder of the 2013 season.

The South African comes to the UK with ten seasons of single-seater experience from his native South Africa. During that time, Kruger has won the Formula Volkswagen title in 2009, 2011 and 2012, and Formula Ford in 2007 and 2010.

Kruger will campaign a Jamun Racing-run EcoBoost Mygale, with the 25 year old planning to get some testing miles in ahead of his debut at Oulton Park in June. His only previous experience of racing in the UK came at the 2005 and 2010 Formula Ford Festivals.

“This is a chance that came up which I couldn’t let pass,” said Kruger.  “I have kind of reached my peak in South Africa, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll give it my best shot and see where we go.

“Testing will be important. I don’t know the car and I have never driven a turbo before, and from what the team tells me throttle application is quite crucial. Initially this is a deal for this season with an option for next. This year I have a lot of circuit learning to do, and we will see what happens.”
