Collard Considers Ford Move

1 Mins read

Ricky Collard is eyeing up a switch into the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain next season.

Collard, son of BTCC-racer Rob, got his first taste of Formula Ford machinery at this week’s Formula Ford Sampler Day, running a Falcon Motorsport-prepared EcoBoost 200.

It was the 17 year old’s first circuit appearance since a massive karting crash in Italy in the summer that caused a punctured lung and a number of broken bones.

The Hampshire-based racer has previously competed on the TOCA package in 2012 with a one-off appearance in the Ginetta Juniors at Oulton Park.

“What a beautiful car,” said Collard. “I really, really enjoyed it: the speed along the straights here is like nothing I have ever experienced before. This is a new challenge for me and something that I’m really going to embrace. I’ve been following the championship very closely and I’m keen to be a part of it. It would be good to be racing at the same meetings as my dad; it would be nice to be able to compare trophies at the end of the weekend…”
