Former Protyre Formula Renault Championship racer Henrique Baptista will enter the EuroFormula Open series in 2014 with DAV Racing.
Baptista makes the step up after competing in Formula Renault with Scorpio Motorsport over the last two seasons. The 22 year old finished twentieth overall in 2012, before improving to ninth last season, just missing out on taking a podium finish with a pair of fourth places finishes.
The Brazilian will race a Dallara F312 for the Italian outfit this season in the championship, which recently changed its name from the European F3 Open, which it was known as since 2009.
“I´m really looking forward to start racing with DAV Racing. I have high expectations for the team and for this season! It should be a great year!” said Baptista.
“I’m glad to welcome Henrique in DAV Racing’s family,” added team principal Felice Davenia. “He showed in winter testing a great attitude and professionalism, and that’s the reason why we want to invest on him in 2014.”
Baptista is joined in the team’s line-up by fellow former Scorpio Motorsport Formula Renault BARC driver Hector Hurst, who is preparing for his second season in the category. The newly-announced BRDC Rising Star finished seventh overall last season with a single race win to his name.
