North American Duo Enter Renault With CDR

1 Mins read

Cliff Dempsey Racing are making a return to the Protyre Formula Renault Championship in 2014 after a year away, running a brace of cars for two of North American’s Travis Jordan ‘TJ’ Fischer and Patrick Dussault.

American racer Fischer leads their driver pairing, following a sensational 2013 campaign in his homeland that brought him three championship titles, the Formula Car Challenge National Championship, SCCA Majors Western Championship and Formula Car Challenge Western Conference.

The 20 year old will combine his maiden UK racing campaign with another season racing in the Formula Car Challenge.

Canadian driver Dussault meanwhile will make his UK competition debut and his ‘slicks and wings’ racing bow this year. The 22 year old competed in the Skip Barber Summer Series in the USA last year, claiming one win en-route to sixth overall in the standings.

Dussault will become the first Canadian to race in a British Formula Renault series since Sean McIntosh became 2005 Formula Renault UK vice-champion.

“I wanted to be back in Renault this year with two cars, I’m delighted,” said team owner Cliff Dempsey. “It’s fantastic to have TJ and Patrick on board, it’s going to be a real learning year for them both but we’re looking forward to helping them develop and improve during the season.

“We’re looking forward to a good year. TJ wants to move up into Pro Mazda in America next year and Protyre Formula Renault is the best and most cost effective championship to get him prepared for that. Patrick needs to make the move into slicks and wings and, again, this is the best value series out there to help take his career forward.”

Cliff Dempsey Racing ran a single-car for Jesse Antilla for two of the six weekends last season, with their last full-time campaign coming in 2012, when they ran Scott Malvern, Trent Hindman, James Theodore, Falco Wauer and Matthew Brabham at various points over the year.
