The international field in the 2014 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain has added another member today as Greg Holloway was confirmed at SWB Motorsport. Australian born and living in Austria, Holloway has signed up for the UK series after racing in both local and national Formula Ford championships down under. Holloway has also raced in the Skip Barber Formula series in the United States.
Greg’s UK debut will come at Brands Hatch on the last weekend of March when he takes to the track in the rare Sinter chassis with EcoBoost power. While the majority of Formula Ford GB teams have opted to run the French made Mygale, SWB have stuck with the British Sinter and Holloway spotted potential in the car when he tested both types of chassis.
“The competition in Europe is stronger and Formula Ford is a great place to learn,” Holloway said when talking about his decision to come to the UK for his racing. “My aim is to get as far as I can in single-seaters. I like the car, it’s very responsive and the EcoBoost engine has a lot more power than I’ve been used to, so it will be a good learning experience for me. My aim is progress my career and hopefully look at F3 or GP3 for the future.”
SWB Motorsport boss Simon Baldry added, “We suffered last year from not having a single driver with us all season on whom we could focus. Greg’s signing is very good news for us and things are looking a lot more positive. He’s done a fair bit of racing and it will be good to have someone on board with that experience.”
The team will run a second Sinter for a driver yet to be disclosed though it is hoped that the driver line up will be more stable than in 2012. Three drivers netted top eight finishes in the SWB car last year with several having a go in the seat.
