BRC Star Milner Leads Abarth Jim Clark Entry

1 Mins read

Two-time MSA British Rally Champion Jonny Milner will return to the championship next weekend (30/31 May), leading a two-car entry from new manufacturer Abarth UK onto the Jim Clark Rally.

The 2002 and 2003 champion will drive in the top BRC1 class in an Abarth 500, with the same model to be entered in the BRC3 category by championship newcomer Georgia Shiels.

The two cars will look essentially the same in appearance, but under the bonnet there will be differences in engine performance, transmission, suspension and braking to match the class specifications.

Both will be using the same 1400cc power plant, with Milner to be close in power to the front-running Citroen DS3 R3’s, while Shiels’ will match the other BRC3 entrants like the Renault Twingo and Ford Fiesta.

Abarth UK announced at the start of the season their intentions to enter the championship this year, and joined the new BRC Constructors Commission, but elected to skip the season opening Pirelli Carlisle RB Foundation Rally in favour of a maiden event on asphalt.
