Sandy Stuvik dominated race two at the Nurburgring to take victory and the championship lead after the first event of the EuroFormula Open season. The Thai driver led a RP Motorsport 1-2 with Polish team-mate Artur Janosz finishing 10.306s behind in second place.
Emilio de Villota Motorsport racer Igor Urien made an outstanding start to lead into the first corner, but Stuvik took back the lead at the chicane at the end of the lap, and he was never challenged again, while Spaniard Urien dropped down the field due to a drive-through penalty for an apparent jump start while running third.
Briton Cameron Twynham completed the podium for Team West-Tec F3 in third, winning a close battle with his Thai team-mate Tanart Sathienthirakul. Korean Che-One Lim finished fifth for Emilio de Villota Motorsport, while Corbetta Competizioni driver Damiano Fioravanti held off Campos Racing’s Konstantin Tereschenko and RP Motorsports Andres Saravia for sixth. Team West-Tec’s Nicholas Pohler and Wei Fung Thong completed the top ten.
Race one winner Alex Palou was a high-profile casualty of race two, the Campos Racing driver retiring on lap nine while running second. He had started sixth but had climbed to third by the end of the first lap, and up to second by the end of lap two passing the fast starting Urien.
Stuvik heads the championship on 44 points, with Janosz second on 30 points and Palou third on 27 points.
