Following the announcement yesterday that the British Rally Championship will not be running in 2015, the Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has reaffirmed its commitment to the series with four events still to be run this year.

Pirelli have been heavily involved in the series, and since 2007 have run the Star Driver scheme which rewards up-and-coming you drivers with a fully paid drive from Pirelli. The programme has proved successful and this years driver Daniel McKenna currently sits at the top of the championship table in joint first.

“We’d like to sincerely thank the current promoter Mark Taylor and the whole UK Rally team for their fantastic efforts over the years,” said Pirelli UK Motorsport Operations Manager Matthew Corby.

“Which are continuing throughout another very exciting season, with two drivers tied for the lead of the title race. As a long-term supporter of the British Rally Championship, we remain committed to the series and now we look forward to the future.

“Although there won’t be a British Rally Championship next year, we will remain very much involved in the British rally scene throughout 2015, both on historic and national rounds all over the United Kingdom and Ireland.”

The next round of the BRC takes place this weekend in Dumfries for the Scottish Rally.
